Protecting Equality

It's hard to believe that we are even having a discussion about the fundamental rights of human beings based on who they love or how they identify.

As a healthcare professional, I'm well aware of the fact that if you're a member of the LGBTQ+ community, you're more likely to have considered or attempted suicide, be a victim of violent crime, or be descrimnated against when seeking care.

I will be a strong ally for the LGBTQ+ community in our General Assembly. Our leaders should set an example of how to act. That means doing the following:

1. Standing up against anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric everywhere and anywhere
2. Block policies that endanger LGBTQ+ students
3. Fully fund programs that assist with youth and teen mental health
